Me Quiero Querer
This collection of pieces encapsulate the experience of the complicated relationship with the self. ‘Me Quiero Querer’ translates to ‘I want to love myself’, a statement that expresses the urge to learn, unlearn, and grow within oneself while acknowledging, and sometimes accepting, the current place. It is a personal testament of my own personal struggles, personified as portraits of women with visible representations of hurt and loss, as well as care and acceptance.
The placement in the desert is often intentional because of its own complexities with existence and resilience, regardless still capable of being beautiful, nourishing, and self-sustaining.
